9. Children’s Privacy and Parental Consent

9.1 Minors as Users

The Site is designed to serve English-language educators but may also be of use to English-language learners of all ages, and we recognize that some of our users may be under the age of eighteen (18). Individuals under the age of eighteen may use the Site only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian. By registering an account on behalf of a minor or by authorizing a minor to use an account, the parent or legal guardian agrees to these Terms and this Privacy Policy on the minor’s behalf and accepts full responsibility for the minor’s use of the Site.

9.2 Adult-Only Features

The employment, recruitment, and professional networking features of TeachVietnam — including the jobs board, resume submission, school profiles, visa facilitation, and related services — are intended exclusively for individuals who are at least eighteen (18) years of age or the age of majority in their jurisdiction. The professional details, identity verification documents, and background check data described in Sections 1.2 and 1.3 are collected only from adult users in connection with these features. Minor accounts are restricted from accessing the jobs board, recruitment features, and any functionality that requires the submission of professional credentials, identity documents, or background checks.

9.3 Children Under the Age of Thirteen

We comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”) and similar applicable laws. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of thirteen (13) without verifiable parental consent. Accounts for users under thirteen must be created by a parent or legal guardian, and the personal information associated with such accounts (including the email address) must belong to the parent or guardian — not the child. We will not knowingly send marketing communications to any email address that we know belongs to a child under thirteen.

9.4 Parental Rights

Parents and legal guardians of minor users have the right to:

  • Review the personal information we have collected in connection with their child’s account;
  • Request correction or deletion of such information;
  • Refuse to permit any further collection or use of their child’s information;
  • Revoke consent and request closure of their child’s account at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected]. We will verify the identity of the requesting parent or guardian before fulfilling any such request.

9.5 Additional Protections for Minors

With respect to users we know to be minors, we apply the following additional safeguards:

  • We do not share the email addresses of known minor users with third-party marketing partners or affiliates for promotional purposes;
  • Minor accounts are restricted from accessing the jobs board, recruitment features, and any functionality that requires the submission of professional credentials, identity documents, or background checks;
  • Personal information from minor accounts is not shared with schools or prospective employers in a recruitment context;
  • We limit the personal information collected from minor accounts to what is reasonably necessary to provide the services;
  • We do not use personal information from minor users for behavioral advertising or profiling.

If you believe that we have collected personal information from a child without appropriate parental consent, please contact us immediately at [email protected], and we will take prompt steps to investigate and, where appropriate, delete such information.

We reserve the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time. When we make material changes, we will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Effective Date” above. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the Site following the posting of any changes constitutes your acceptance of such changes.

11. International Users
